Congratulations and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day. Your head is probably spinning at the thought of what you need to do before your big day. I have tried to make the process very simple for you by putting together a step by step process that you can begin to work through.

The documents below will help me make an awesome ceremony for you.

NOIM – Notice of Intended Marriage form
(no earlier than 18 months no later than 1 month)

You will need to fill in this form and return it to me . If practical, I can witness both parties signatures, however, if not a JP, Solicitor or Doctor can witness for you. Please see the form for a full list. The time restraints start ticking from when I receive your NOIM.

If you have any questions, please call me. Once you have your NOIM witnessed, please attach a copy of both of your birth certificates or Passport Plus driver’s license. (I will sight the originals when we meet up).

Please post to:

Let’s catch up
(if we haven’t already).
This is such a fun part of the process. We can meet up face to face or via Skype. Just bring along your original documents for me to sight. We can catch up over a coffee or a wine and we can get to know one another. By the time the ceremony comes around, your guests will think we are best mates!

Ceremony Preparation and Homework

Take a look at the document below which is an example of how a typical wedding ceremony pans out. There are around 124 words I must say but the rest is up to you.

The link below will take you to a place to record your story. It doesn’t have to be a novel, however, the more information you provide, the more I have to work with. I don’t need this until about 1 month or so before you get married, so just take your time. A lot can happen in the lead up to your wedding so you might want to include information from more recent times.
This document forms the building blocks to creating a ceremony that is unique to you. Please return it to me at least one month before you ceremony so we have plenty of time to tweak it.

Writing your own vows

Start thinking about what you would like to say to one another. I will encourage you to write from the heart and try to put words what you mean to each other. Some couples dread this part of the ceremony, however, it really is the best part. Don’t think of it as public speaking, think of it more a private conversation between the two of you. Don’t worry about learning them, I will print them on a card for you to read from.

The exchanging of Rings

The part of the ceremony which involves saying a short statement to each other as you are placing rings on each other’s fingers. Please see the attached samples for inspiration or write your own!

Leading up to the big day

  • Your Story Questionnaire (1 month prior to your wedding)

  • Your vows

  • Readings or poems (if you want them)

  • Ring Statements

  • Music

  • The FULL names of your two witnesses who are over the age of 18

After the Wedding

I will submit all the paperwork to Births, Deaths and Marriages and apply for your official Marriage Certificate. This is the one you will need to change your name. I am also a JP, so I will provide some certified copies for you also.

Note: in peak wedding season, waiting times may be up to 6 weeks.

I hope these steps give you all the information and tools you need to make this process as smooth as possible. Of course if you have any questions at any stage, please do not hesitate to contact myself via email at marriedbylindy@gmail.com or Mobile 0418 118 154

Thank you for your time. I look forward to helping you have an incredible celebration for what is one of the greatest days of your life.
